Community Impact
Community is at the center of what we do. We invest in our communities to help them thrive. It’s what drives us to show up for our members and do the right thing, because when we do, it makes a big impact.
Impact
When we spend time in our communities, we better understand the things that are important, and where we truly need to show up to serve the greater good. With 15 locations throughout the Puget Sound, we look for specific opportunities to serve alongside our community partners in the areas where we can share our positive influence; and we’re continually looking for ways we can share our passion for financial betterment in the communities we love.
Through our commitment to giving back, we’ve assembled an annual community impact statement that highlights the stories of our endeared partnerships and organization who needed us the most, and the ways we showed up. We’re proud of our staff who got creative and logged more than 1,007 volunteer hours in the midst of a pandemic, and that doesn’t include contributions made in their own personal time.
Giving
We’re always looking for ways we can support our local communities, with a keen focus on efforts centered around financial empowerment. We aim to provide access to all people through the financial literacy tools and resources that will create generational wealth and self-sufficiency. In addition to financial empowerment, we also prioritize the following areas as an integral part of our mission:
Community safety
Because we all want to live and work in a safe community.
Family health and welfare
As part of our commitment to developing strong communities.
Military
Due to our deep military roots.
Small business education
In support of our successful business members.
Here are just a few partners we’re proud of:
Junior Achievement of Washington
Junior Achievement of Washington and Harborstone share a common mission of financial empowerment for today’s youth. We work together on programs to teach kids the importance of money management, and through our partnership on the annual Dare to Dream event, we raise funds to support financial education for kids across the state.
Business Impact Northwest
We’ve partnered with Business Impact Northwest for more than 10 years. Among the highlights: We work together on the IMPACT Pitch competition to offer small business owners personal business coaching, planning and strategy tools, and guidance to assembling a successful business plan – along with cash prizes for the winning businesses who are selected in each category – startup, early stage and established.
Sound Outreach
We partner with Sound Outreach to help Pierce County residents experiencing low and/or fixed incomes build financial security through financial coaching, job training and other related services.
UW Foster School of Business
During our long-standing partnership with UW Foster School of Business, we've worked together on many events and programs. Among the highlights: A microlending program to help small businesses grow and thrive, and summer internships for new grads and more.
